Camera Resolution Test
Cameras rarely deliver what the box promises through a browser. This test asks for common resolutions and reports what the browser actually receives.

How to use
- Press Start and allow camera access when the browser asks. If you have more than one camera, choose it from the Camera list.
- Read the camera name, resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate under Current stream.
- Press Test resolutions. The page asks the camera for each common size in turn and lists what it delivered under Requested sizes.
- Press Stop to release the camera.
What this test can detect
- The highest resolution the camera delivers to the browser.
- The aspect ratio the camera uses, such as 4:3 or 16:9.
- A camera that delivers less than its advertised resolution to the browser.
Important
- Browsers apply their own limits and may return a smaller size than the camera supports. Video call apps can sometimes get more.
- The browser can scale a larger picture down to a requested size, so a delivered size does not prove the camera captures it natively.
- The camera name is only shown once permission is granted, and some devices report a generic name.
- Megapixel counts for still photos are not exposed to browsers; only video stream sizes are.
