How to use

  1. Press Start test and allow microphone access when the browser asks.
  2. Speak at a normal volume and watch the level meter respond.
  3. If you have more than one microphone, choose another one from the list and check again.
  4. Press Stop when you are done. The browser releases the microphone immediately.

What this test can detect

  • A microphone that is muted, disconnected or blocked by permissions.
  • The wrong microphone being selected, for example a webcam mic instead of a headset.
  • Input that is too quiet or constantly clipping at maximum.
  • Background noise picked up when you are not speaking.

  • Audio is processed locally in your browser. Nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded on this page.
  • The browser may hide microphone names until you grant permission, and some operating systems mute microphones at the system level.
  • The meter shows relative level only. It does not measure sensitivity or sound quality.

Why does the browser ask for permission every time?
Browsers ask before any page can use a microphone. You can allow this site permanently in the browser's site settings, and revoke it there at any time.
Does this site record or upload my voice?
No. The audio stays in your browser and is only used to draw the meter. There is no server involved.
