Brightness Test

These patterns show how your display handles different brightness levels and how evenly it lights the whole panel.

Each bar should look distinct, with even steps from black on the left to white on the right.

How to use

Set your display to the brightness you normally use.
Press Start test and move through the patterns with the arrow keys or on-screen controls.
On the stepped bars, check that every step is visible and evenly spaced.
On the uniform fields, look for corners or edges that are darker or lighter than the center.

What this test can detect

Backlight bleed or clouding on the black and dark gray fields.
Dim corners or a bright center on the white and gray fields.
Crushed shadows: the darkest steps all look the same black.
Clipped highlights: the brightest steps all look the same white.

Important

Slight brightness variation across a panel is normal, especially on large LCDs and at the edges.
What you see depends on room lighting, viewing angle, and your display settings.
This test does not measure brightness in nits. It shows relative differences only.
