Stuck Pixel Fixer

Rapidly changing noise drives each pixel through many values in a short time. This sometimes frees a pixel that is stuck on one color. It cannot revive a pixel that is dead.

Flashing light warning

This pattern flashes rapidly across the whole screen. Do not use it if you are sensitive to flashing lights or have a history of photosensitive seizures.

How to use

  1. Use the Dead Pixel Finder first to confirm that the pixel is stuck (shows a color) rather than dead (always black).
  2. Choose how long to run the pattern. Ten to twenty minutes is a reasonable first attempt.
  3. Read the flashing-light warning, then press Start.
  4. Leave the screen running. You can pause or stop at any time.
  5. When it finishes, check the pixel again with the Dead Pixel Finder.

What this test can detect

  • This tool does not detect anything. It tries to change the state of a stuck pixel by cycling it through many values.
  • A pixel that is stuck on red, green, blue, or white may respond. A pixel that is always black will not.

Important

  • This pattern flashes rapidly. Do not use it if you are sensitive to flashing lights or have a history of photosensitive seizures.
  • There is no guarantee. Some stuck pixels recover after one run, some after several attempts over a few days, and some never do.
  • Dead pixels are a physical fault and cannot be repaired by any software.
  • Do not press on or rub the screen. That can damage the panel.
